Studio Terms & Conditions

Guymer Piano Studio uses a membership-based payment plan. This means students do not pay ‘by the lesson’, but rather pay a set tuition fee each term, as the educational experience extends far beyond the minutes spent in each face-to-face lesson.

The membership fee allows students (and parents/care-givers) a regular weekly lesson time (reserved just for you), priority in your choice of lesson time for future terms, access to additional resources, and eligibility for students to participate in:

  • a studio concert each term

  • occasional school lunch-time concerts (TAS & St Mary’s Primary only)

  • preparation for school performances (Assemblies, in-house concerts, assessments)

  • the Armidale Eisteddfod with my attendance and support

  • scale parties

  • general knowledge quiz parties

  • mock exams

  • additional workshops for AMEB and HSC exam preparation (e.g. aural skills, viva voce, musicology writing skills, composition workshops and recording)

  • my equipment and expertise in recording AMEB video repertoire exams and HSC compositions

  • Year 11 / HSC assessment and exam preparation and support

Please complete the form below, and read the following paragraphs carefully to ensure that you fully understand the logistics of the membership-based billing process, and the policies regarding missed lessons. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me before submitting this form. By submitting the enrolment form, you are committing to these policies.

Students wanting ad hoc lessons or accompaniment rehearsals should still complete this form and specify preferred lesson length. A performance fee for accompaniment will be added to the invoice, depending on the performance context (school assembly, AMEB exams, HSC assessment, audition, etc).

Enrolment Terms

  • Current studio membership fees:

20-minute lessons: $1,200 / year, invoiced $300 / term

30-minute lessons: $1,800 / year, invoiced $450 / term

45-minute lessons: $2,700 / year, invoiced $675 / term

60-minute lessons: $3,600 / year, invoiced $900 / term

75-minute lessons: $4,500 / year, invoiced $1,125 / term

Grades 1 - 3: 9 x 30-minute weekly classes per term

2 children per class - $225.00 per child

3 children per class - $195.00 per child

4 children per class - $150.00 per child

Grades 4 - 6: 9 x 45-minute weekly classes per term

2 children per class - $337.50 per child

3 children per class - $290.00 per child

4 children per class - $240.00 per child

  • Studio membership is for the full calendar year unless written notice is given (see Withdrawal Policy).

  • Studio membership is billed by the NSW school term.

  • Enrolment is confirmed when the Studio Enrolment Form is completed and the first invoice is paid.

  • For continuing students, invoices are issued approximately 2 weeks before the end of the previous term. This enables confirmation of continuance.

  • Unless a formal withdrawal is received (see below), invoices will be issued automatically for each new term.

  • It is the responsibility of the student/parent to notify the Studio of any changes to contact details.

  • Rehearsals and ad hoc lessons are charged at $100/hour, and do not include access to the Studio’s Added Extras. For Accompaniment, a Performance Fee will be added according to the performance context (school assembly or in-house concert, exam, audition, etc), and amount of lead-time given.

  • Missed Ensemble or Theory Classes will not be caught up or refunded. However, if your child has missed a class, I am happy to mark homework between lessons. Every effort will be made to help them catch up at the next lesson.

  • Ensemble and Theory Classes are charged at:

    • Grades 1 - 3: 9 x 30-minute weekly classes per term

      2 children per class - $225.00 per child

      3 children per class - $195.00 per child

      4 children per class - $150.00 per child

    • Grades 4 - 6: 9 x 45-minute weekly classes per term

      2 children per class - $337.50 per child

      3 children per class - $290.00 per child

      4 children per class - $240.00 per child

Membership, Lesson Attendance, Missed Lessons & Refunds

  • Membership includes 36 lessons a calendar year. Membership also includes eligibility to receive a variety of additional resources and activities according to the needs and level of your child, at the discretion of the Studio. See the Added Extras page of this website for details.

  • Additional lesson time for studio members may be available, and will be invoiced at the ‘ad hoc lessons’ hourly rate, separate from the Membership fee.

  • Late enrolments: Students who enrol after the start of term may receive a pro-rata fee adjustment.

  • Notice of absence: Students/parents must give at least 48 hours’ notice if they cannot attend a scheduled lesson so that an alternative time may be offered.

  • Lessons missed with less than 48 hours’ notice, or without notice, will NOT be rescheduled or refunded.

  • Catch-up lessons: Up to 2 catch-up lessons per term may be offered, subject to teacher availability. Two alternative times will be provided; if neither is accepted, the lesson is forfeited. Catch-up lessons must occur within the same term as the missed lesson and cannot be carried forward.

  • Exceptional circumstances that includes 3 or more lessons in the term (e.g. serious illness with medical certificate) may be considered for credit or refund at the Studio’s discretion.

  • Fees are due by the last day of the previous term (Early Bird), or by the beginning of Week 2 (Standard). Late payment will incur a fee, and lessons may be suspended until payment is received.

Withdrawal Policy

  • Written notice of at least 4 weeks is required to withdraw from studio membership.

  • Notice must be given by email to [studio email address]. Casual conversations, texts, or phone calls do not constitute formal notice.

  • If less than 4 weeks’ notice is given, fees for that period remain payable.

Discounts (Optional)

  • Early Bird Discount: $20 off per student when term fees are paid in full by the ‘Early Bird’ date (shown on invoice).

  • Family Discount: additional $10 off per sibling per term for families with more than one child enrolled.

General

  • Studio policies may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be available on request or via the studio website.
