Sheila Guymer
Hello! I’m Sheila Guymer, a pianist and teacher with over 30 years’ experience helping students discover the joy of music. I have taught hundreds of students across all levels, from young beginners to tertiary students preparing for exams, auditions, and competitions.
I hold multiple degrees in Music, and I have performed nationally and internationally as both a soloist and chamber musician.
In 2019-2025, I served as Head of Keyboard at the New England Conservatorium of Music (NECOM). Previously, I held teaching positions at Cambridge University, Sydney Conservatorium, Melbourne University, University of New England, and Victoria University. I have also taught at various schools, including Sydney Conservatorium High School, Sydney Grammar, and Melbourne Girls’ Grammar.
My Teaching Philosophy
I have a special commitment to teaching young beginners, as developing a good foundation is vital! I believe that learning piano is about more than just notes on a page. It’s about developing confidence, creativity, discipline, and a deep connection to music. Lessons are encouraging and structured, with a balance of technical skill, musical expression, and personal enjoyment.
Whether your goal is to sit an exam, play for friends and family, or simply enjoy music at home, I look forward to going on that journey with you. Book in for a trial lesson with me today!
