Added Extras

Studio membership includes additional benefits, not just nine lessons a term.

Here are some of the Added Extras.

  • A group of children and a woman at an end-of-year studio concert, wearing Christmas-themed hats and reindeer antlers, standing on a wooden stage with red curtains and green plants in the background.

    Term Studio Concerts

Every term I like to host a studio concert so that all my students have an opportunity to perform in a relaxed and supportive setting. Often, I choose a fun theme for the concert. Studio Concerts also give students and their families an opportunity to socialise and form friendships. For some concerts, we have a little party afterwards.

  • Logo of the Armidale Eisteddfod Society featuring a stylized smiling face integrated with a musical note.

    Armidale Eisteddfod

All students are invited to participate in the annual Keyboard Sections of the Armidale Eisteddfod. Term 2 includes a special workshop for students who have entered the Eisteddfod. Studio membership includes my attendance and support at any section your child enters in the Keyboard Eisteddfod.

  • Shelves filled with music books, sheet music, and magazines, organized in black plastic holders.

    Lending Library & Shop

Studio membership includes access to various resources. While students are required to purchase examination scores, the Lending Library includes beginner method books, ensemble repertoire (duets, trios), fun pieces (e.g. Christmas songs), studies, and sight reading exercises.

  • An adult man coaching a young boy at a piano, both focused on playing, in a black-and-white photo.

    Masterclasses

Selected students will be invited to perform in masterclasses with visiting concert pianists.

  • Red neon light in the shape of a question mark on a dark background.

    General Knowledge Quiz Parties

Held late in Term 2 specifically for students preparing for AMEB exams, General Knowledge Quiz Parties are a fun way to gain confidence answering general knowledge exams. Students are grouped by grade. Each student receives a booklet for their specific exam pieces, plus worksheets and activities students can use at home.

  • Diagram of the Circle of Fifths with musical keys arranged in a circle, showing relationships between major and minor keys, with key signatures around the circle and corresponding scales outside.

    Scale Parties

Held in Term 1 specifically for students preparing for AMEB exams, Scale Parties are a fun way to gain confidence with the set technical work. Students are grouped by grade. Resources include games and activities students can also use at home.

  • The Armidale Symphony Orchestra performing on stage, with pianist Sheila Guymer in the foreground and violinists in the background, inside a concert hall with red curtains.

    Discounts on Concert Tickets

Occasionally, students (and their families) will be invited to purchase tickets for public concerts. These may include discount offers and priority booking options.
